Project Title: New Website for BU Project Management Students

Project Start Date: January 20, 2008 Projected Finish Date: March 1, 2008

Budget Information: Dr. Sponsor has allocated a team of 6 motivated students to create this new student portal

Project Manager: Gene Leshinsky

Project Objectives: The website will have a contact form that will allow students to register with the site and provide updated contact info that will be stored in a database.

It will also have a backend content management system as well as a control panel. The control panel will also enable the administrator to easily integrate functionalities that will be added to the site after the initial staging area is completed. A database will collect and store information about student members accurately while CSS and PHP technologies will be used to create a dynamic interactive student portal

Approach:

• Gather requirements from the business users of the website and determine what features would save them the most time and money.
• Create the Website and the backend database using PHP and SQLServer.
• Collect content for the website
• Allow the business team to conduct user acceptance testing on the new site and report any bugs to the development team during development.
• Add new functionalities as requested per RFC’s after in production.
• Plan for the creation of numerous add on functionalities.
• Carefully document the project and present final solution.
