Kickoff Meeting Recap
Before we were so rudely interrupted by the service provider….
Here are some things that I got out of the meeting, comments are welcome as always.
Each group will have a lead that will be responsible for reporting to the entire group during the next meeting. I’ll lead the PM group, Mohammed may lead the technical group if everyone agrees to that.
PM Group could be:
Gene
Oge
Dajwari
Technical Group could be:
Ed
Mohammed
Leong
Since everyone needs to be immersed in the project management process lets get the actual technical part out of the way.
Let’s have the technical group create the form and connect it to the database while the PM group will write up the entire Scope( including the suggestions from both groups and the deliverables)
Before the scope can be written, let’s commence the brainstorming for the functionalities that the proposal will have. Both groups are responsible for 20 to 30 functionalities.
Let’s have this brainstorming session done by Saturday so that the project team can write the scope. Since we are meeting on Monday we should have the Scope completely done by then.
Please post comments!!
I agree Mohammed be the lead for the technical group, since Mohammed has plenty of hands on experiences on coding that will help the entire team.
Having said that, Mohammed, I propose: build the db with SQL Plus (along via a conceptual ERD). Please let me know if the output needs to be converted into any specific format to work with the front end Admin Page. Thanks.
p/s: I am currently working on creating the functionalities that the proposal will have, I will get this done ASAP by this Saturday.
-Leong.

Sounds like a plan! I would first like to remind everyone that we need to submit our Scope Document tomorrow as a team. Do we have a game plan for this?

Leong, before diving into the ERD, I would like to take an OOA/OOD approach. So let me create a UML Domain Model (aka Conceptual Model) first, then we can derive a Class Diagram and ERD from it. I will also put together a Use Case Diagram, which should be extremely simple for our project.

I was under the impression that the scope that is due tonight is independant of our group project. It says to do it on your own for the project you described in the project charter….

I guess I missed this…
1) Since some of the teams have already invested time and effort in teaming up for the project, I am allowing one scope statement per team. The project manager should write every team member’s name in the text message box–and your instructor will enter the same score for every member.
2) I am about done with a live flash demo tomorrow on the topic of Cost estimation. It will help you with the homework 2 dealing with cost estimation.
3) Tomorrow you will also see a flash demo session dealing with msproject homework. Both of the above will be recorded and uploaded and URL emailed to you.

This means we need to accelerate the timeline for the brainstorm up to tonight, say 11. After this I will collect thr thoguths of the team and create a scope statement for the project…
Does that amkes sense?

Hmm, I think that the scope was to be based on the final project not on the project charter!
And the Prof had changed it to just one to a group.
Gene can you email to us what you intend to submit for the group? Some of us might see a need to add something to it……
I might though
