Team B Project Charter

Project Title: Project Management Site Project

Project Start Date: January 28, 2008 Projected Finish Date: March 3, 2008

Budget Information: Tools provided by MSDAA, Time estimate from each team memenr 10h per week, 60 hours all together

Project Manager: Gene Leshinsky

Project Objectives: The main objective of this project is to create a more user friendly site for the BU. Currently the site looks like a throw back to the early 90’s. Our object is to create a more user friendly experience as well as to create an application that helps the department engage the students by allowing students to register on the site. The site must be able to store all the information in a database and allow the administrator to send out newsletters to everyone in the database 8 times a year. The site may also be augmented by various widgets such as calendar, Adsense, message board, and knowledge base.

Approach:

  • Develop a web 2.0 front end with the use of .NET technologies
  • Develop a database that will work with the front end
  • Make sure the database works correctly with the front end
  • Create a backend that will allow the administrator to send out emails to the entire database as well as to individual members.
  • Determine widgets to add to site to increase utility
  • Deliver the project on time and under budget
